Open Channel flow meters measure level, flow rate and total volume of water flowing through weirs, flumes, channels and partially filled pipes. Open channel flow monitoring is a method of determining liquid volumetric flow rates in applications that rely on moving liquids through open conduits rather than enclosed full pipes. A Steam flow meter primarily consists of a bluff body, a sensor assembly and a transmitter. A bluff body or a shedder is nothing but a non-streamlined object or a barrier placed perpendicular to the axis of the pipeline, around which the medium flows. Electromagnetic flow meters (or mag meters) are a type of velocity or volumetric flow meter that operates pursuant to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction – which states that a voltage will be induced when a conductor moves through a magnetic field. Magmeters can detect the flow rate of conductive fluids only.
Electromagnetic Flow Meters, simply known as mag flow meter is a volumetric flow meter that is ideally used for wastewater applications and other applications that experience low-pressure drop and with appropriate liquid conductivity required. The device doesn’t have any moving parts and cannot work with hydrocarbons and distilled water. Mag flow meters are also easy to maintain. Magnetic flow meters work based on Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction.
